MOTHERS BEHIND WALLS

By Gwendolyn Burton Green

We are problem solvers. We are nurses, doctors, mediators, coaches, abd the number one fans of our children. But the truth is, we are overlooked. We are castaways trying to find our way back home. We are still trying the be the same type of loving and giving mothers we were before our crimes and all this time we were given. But then theres reality that makes it it's job to show up and slam the door in our faces. Leaving us only a small window. So we crane our necks to get the best view that we can as we watch them grow into their own person rite before our eyes. We call, we write, we see and send pictures and we even give advice. But through the heartaches and heart breaks, the sad truth is that after all these years of trying to be relevent, we're still just mothers. behind. the walls. Missing the thing that keeps the air flowing in our lungs.
