Prisionero Augusta Correctional Center
ENGLISH TRANSLATION (translated by Aileen Rivera)
Greetings Brothers and Sisters of the Hispanic Community from the prisoners of the Augusta Correctional Center in the state of Virginia!
We know that we have made mistakes in the past that brought us to these extremes.
We have spent a lot of time in deep regret and remorse for our bad decisions and paying for our mistakes. Nevertheless, we are still humans and deserve to be treated as human beings with opportunities, equality and rights. These are things that have not been happening for a long time due to lack of education and training for both prisoners and the communities equally.
We humbly ask everyone that is able to attend the rally on Saturday January 20th in Richmond VA to come support not just the Hispanic prisoners but anyone who has suffered from the injustices of the Virginia Prison system .
Some examples of insufficient services that are not provided: Elementary and Middle school grade classes in English or Spanish, international calls ( we only get 3/yr) to name a few things.
We appreciate and are very grateful for your support while we await to be free to become productive citizens for our families, communities and our country.
Thank you and God Bless you all.
Jerry Mendoza-Villata
